Guwahati, Aug. 14: Dynamo Club registered a convincing 2-0 victory over Food Corporation of India Sports Club in their match of the RG Baruah Guwahati Sports Association Super Division Football League at ground one of Nehru Stadium here today.
In a lacklustre affair on muddy turf, Dynamo Club didn’t have to wait for much long to break the deadlock while a late goal in the dying minutes of the game was enough to seal their first victory in the league.
Amojao Singh, making his way from the left flank, provided Bilson Daimary with the perfect elevation to place the ball into the net with a header in the sixth minute of play.
Gorachand Marandi, with a powerful long range attempt, saw FCI glovesman Bitul Khanikar diving into the front to have a firm grip on the ball in the 32nd minute.
With the second half kicking off, FCI players adopted a more offensive strategy but failed to break through the Dynamo defence line.
Sabilal Konwar, making his way from the left flank with a fine run, attempted the target with a firmly struck shot. It saw the ball rebound off the hands of Dynamo custodian Basta Marandi, but Sourab Chutia’s failure to reach there in time denied them a genuine opportunity to draw parity in the 52nd minute.
Chutiya’s failure to have a firm grip on a slippery ground denied him from taking a shot from an absolute scoring position in the 55th minute. The ball was well cleared to safety by a Dynamo defender.
FCI forward Rakesh Das failed to repeat his earlier performances as most of the time he found himself either surrounded by Dynamo players or failing to take his usual shots on a slippery underfoot conditions.
Nigerian recruit Laisi Adyem Wahab’s pass to Manjit Rabha in the 90th minute saw the latter’s successful attempt from outside the box. Rabha’s strike left Bitul Khanikar clueless as the custodian didn’t make any move to save the ball from finding the net.
In Jibeswar Goswami GSA A Division Football League, Kamrupa Football Club came back from behind to register a well-deserved 2-1 victory over Assam Police Blues. Karuna Goyary put the policemen in front in the 36th minute while Pangkaj Hazowary scored the equaliser for Rajbari in the 55th minute. Rudra Boro scored in the 65th minute to put them in front for the first time.
