Huyel Langol academy bag top title

Imphal, Aug. 13: Huyel Langol Thang-Ta Academy bagged the overall team championís trophy, claiming 31 medals, including 12 gold, in the 25th State Thang-Ta Championship 2014, which concluded at NSA Indoor Stadium today.

The HLTTA, Yumnam Huidrom, finished with 12 gold, eight silver and 11 bronze medals with 231 points for the championís title while Huyel Langlon Thang Ta Academy, Samurou, got the runners-up title with 13 gold, four silver and a bronze medal for 127 points. The competition saw N. Klintan Singh of MIMCTA Naoremthong and M. Umabati Devi of Meitei Nongsha Lallong, Heikrujam, adjudged the Best Boy and Best Girl fighters of the meet.

Pahulashi Mayaikoibi took the third slot, winning 10 gold, eight silver and two bronze medals, while EKVTA Nongmeibung got five gold, four silver and three bronze medals among the 32 teams that took part in the championship.

In the senior boysí tarol event, I. Ibungo Meitei of HLTA Samurou beat M. Mishal Singh of MATAM Wangkhei for the gold and silver medals. HLTA Yumnam Huidrom also grabbed a gold medal in the senior boysí tarol from O. Netajit Singh. In the senior girlsí khonglon and khutlon, A. Sanatombi Chanu of HLTA Samurou fetched the gold medal while in the senior boysí thanglon and khonglon-khutlon event, Y. Khagemba Singh of HLTA Yumnam Huidrom got the better of Y. James of KITTS Keibi for the gold medal.
