Ranchi, Aug. 13: As many as 13 IAS officers were transferred yesterday, leaving the key department of finance under additional charge of an officer in a bureaucratic reshuffle ahead of Assembly elections likely to be announced by the end of the month.
Finance secretary A.P. Singh, who had barely completed a year in the post officer (he joined on August 19 last year) was transferred to the disaster management department while principal secretary in the state road construction department Rajbala Verma was given additional charge of finance.
The defunct tourism department got a new boss in the form of Avinash Kumar who was holding charge of water resources department.
Health secretary B.K. Tripathi, who is now battling the crisis sparked by Medical Council of India slashing medical seats in three Jharkhand colleges, has been given additional charge of water resources.
Tourism secretary Vishnu Kumar has been transferred in the capacity of principal secretary to the agriculture department, besides being given additional charge of housing.
Personnel department secretary S.K. Satpathy said all the transfer notifications were signed this afternoon. “The transfers were notified late last night. But a formal announcement was made today afternoon,” he explained.
Principal secretary, revenue and land reforms department, J.B. Tubid, who holds additional charge of the cabinet coordination department, has been given yet another department to look after, energy.

Transport commissioner Manoj Kumar has been transferred as registrar of co-operative societies, while co-operative department secretary K. K. Soan would now be the new transport secretary cum commissioner.
Election Commission of India (EC) is expected to declare dates of Assembly elections in Jharkhand and three other states (Haryana, Maharashtra and Jammu & Kashmir) by the end of August after which the model code of conduct will be imposed.
Poll-bound states will then have approach EC before effecting transfer of officials.
