Funds misuse slur on minister

Ranchi, Aug. 8: Former Chatra MP Inder Singh Namdhari today accused state rural development minister K.N. Tripathi of misusing his official position in allocation and distribution of funds under Indira Awas Yojana and old-age pension to BPL beneficiaries.

Speaking at a news conference at a Ranchi hotel, Namdhari, who had served as the first Speaker of Jharkhand Assembly, alleged that Tripathi, Congress MLA from Daltonganj, sanctioned old-age pension to thousands below 60 years in his home constituency with an eye on the upcoming state polls.

“Only those aged 60 and above qualify for pension, but there are dozens of such cases where even a 40-year-old person has been given the benefit. He also diverted Indira Awas Yojana funds meant for Palamau to areas falling under the ambitious Saryu Action Plan. I have shot a missive to chief minister Hemant Soren for an inquiry,” he added.
