SBI employee still missing

Tura, Aug. 6: Meghalaya police are yet to trace the whereabouts of SBI employee Subodh Kumar Mishra, who was abducted yesterday from Gasuapara in the South Garo Hills.

Mishra was posted in the Gasuapara branch as an assistant.

He was abducted by six gunmen while he was on his way back to Barengapara on a motorbike. The police suspect it to be the handiwork of the A’chik Songna An’pachakgipa Kotok (ASAK).

“A search operation to rescue Mishra is on,” said Lakador Syiem, superintendent of police, South Garo Hills.

SBI assistant general manager (Garo hills division) Nixon Joseph said, “We are in touch with the police to ensure his safe release.” He appealed to the abductors to release Mishra on humanitarian grounds. “Kidnapping of SBI official will affect the morale of both official and clerical staff,” Joseph added.
