Calcutta: Already having roped in Ranty Martins and New Zealand World Cupper Leo Bertos, East Bengal have added another big gun in their kitty for this season in the form of Dudu Omagbemi.
The club has finalised a one-year deal with the 29-year-old Nigerian, who for the first time will be representing a city-based team. Before signing on the dotted lines for East Bengal, Dudu had played for Salgaocar team, scoring five goals from 10 appearances in last season’s I-League.
“We’ve signed a year’s contract with Dudu. He’ll be playing for us this season… He’ll be here once he gets the visa,” East Bengal football secretary Santosh Bhattacharya said on Monday.
“Of late, there’s been some delay in obtaining visas. We hope Dudu gets it soon…”
Before returning to India earlier this year, Dudu spent close to three years in Finland, being part of clubs KuPS and FC Honka.
He has also played for Poland’s Wisla Krakow, and Hungary’s Debreceni VSC and Kecskemeti TE between 2007 and 2010.
