Calcutta: The Amway 64th State Athletic Championships concluded at the SAI, Eastern Campus, on Sunday.
A total of 26 meet records were created at this edition of the meet. On Sunday, the fourth and final day of the meet, five meet records were recorded.
Tiasa Samadder (girls’ U-18 400m hurdles), Chayan Nandy (boys’ U-20 shot put), Biswajit Samanata (boys’ U-20 400m hurdles), Sheikh Saifuddin (boys’ U-18 400m hurdles) and Sanchay Kumar Paul (boys’ U-16 100m) were record-makers.
Rahamatulla Molla, representing Police AC, was adjudged the best athlete among the men, while Fulan Khatun was given the prize for the best women athlete of the meet.
North 24 Parganas DSA won the overall champions’ trophy with The City AC being the runners-up.
East Bengal won the team trophy in the men’s section, while Pioneer SA were the winners in the women’s category.
Around 875 athletes from 19 different districts of the state participated in 153 sporting events over four days.
Along with other dignitaries, Sultan Ahmed, MP and Arup Roy, state minister (agriculture) were present during the closing ceremony.
