Poacher killed

Jorhat, Aug. 1: A poacher was killed in the wee hours today near the Mihimukh camp of Kohora range of Kaziranga National Park.

A rucksack containing a mobile phone, a bus ticket to a place in Nagaland, clothes and shoes were found near him.

Forest guards intercepted three poachers around 3.30am and gave chase when fired upon. The guards fired back but were unable to search for the body then. The body was found around 5.10am.

The poacher is yet to be identified and search operations on elephant back are on to find the other two.
