Kripalu: Cheers to new role
New Delhi, July 30 (PTI): Anand Kripalu, chief executive officer of United Spirits, has been elevated to the executive committee of Diageo Plc, the world’s largest spirits maker, which holds a majority stake in the Indian company.
Diageo’s Greater China managing director Sam Fischer has also been elevated to the committee.
Meanwhile, Gilbert Ghostine, Diageo’s India and China president, will be leaving the company.
The changes are part of an operational revamp at Diageo.
“Anand Kripalu, CEO of United Spirits Ltd (USL), will join the executive committee. Both Sam and Anand will report to Nick Blazquez, president, Diageo Africa and Asia Pacific,” Diageo Plc said in a statement.
Diageo’s western Europe president John Kennedy will take responsibility for Russia, eastern Europe and Turkey as president, Diageo Europe.
It would be in addition to his current responsibility, the London-based company said.
These appointments will be effective from September 1 this year, it added.
“The changes we have announced today signal a further shift in Diageo from an organisation based on regions to one which puts accountability in the markets,” Diageo chief executive Ivan Menezes said.
The changes strengthen the executive team and enhance focus on two key growth markets — China and India.
An IIT Madras and IIM Calcutta alumnus, Kripalu was previously the managing director of Cadbury India and the country president of Kraft Foods.
