Imphal, July 27: Progressive Youth Association, Kairang, held Athletic Brothers Union, Khetrigao, to a goalless draw to split a point each in the IEDFA Maharajkumar Ghanendrajit Memorial Super Division Football League at Artificial Turf, Khuman Lampak sports complex today.
Playing their first match in the league, both teams had their moments.
However, it was the Progressive Youth keeper who came up with three saves to deny Athletic Brothers any breakthrough in the match.
In tomorrow’s matches, Youth Organisation Sporting Club will take on United Progressive Adults Association while XI Star Sporting Union will meet Eastern Sporting Union.
Eight teams, including KIYC Khetri Iril, ABA Khetrigao, ESU Wangkhei, UPAA Kiyamgei are clustered in Group A while Group B has YOSC Khurai, XI Star Sporting Union, PYA Kairang and Citizen Club.
Felicitation: Kangchup Road Youth Physical Sporting Association, Naoremthong, feted Langam Chaoba Devi, who emerged successful in the AFC “A” Licence Certificate Course, at Epathoukhok Shanglen, Imphal West.
Chaoba Devi became the first woman from Manipur and third from India to achieve the feat.
Former director-general of police Y. Joykumar Singh, AMFA secretary L. Ranjit Roy and N. Maipak Singh graced the function.
The Manipur Mountaineering and Trekking Association is organising the 72nd Adventure Course, which will be a 15-day course. The course will begin from August 9 at MMI Complex at Lamdanand and is open to the age group of 15-35 years. The last date of entry is August 5.
Powerlifters: Manipur powerlifters claimed four gold and seven bronze medals in the Eastern India Powerlifting and Bench Press Championship held in Patna from July 18-20.
