Gadkari bug row

New Delhi, July 27 (PTI): A controversy erupted over a report of bugging devices having been found at Nitin Gadkari’s home but the Union minister today dubbed it “highly speculative” and the Congress said it reflected the lack of faith and trust among NDA ministers.

A media report had claimed that the listening devices were found in the bedroom of 13 Teen Murti Lane, the New Delhi residence of Gadkari, the road transport and highways minister. The report said the discovery was “accidental” and a debugging exercise was ordered immediately.

“Reports in a section of the media about listening devices having been found at my New Delhi residence are highly speculative,” he tweeted.

Sources close to the Union minister also denied that any such devices were found.

Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today said there should be an investigation. “If ministers’ houses are bugged, then it is not a good omen. It should be investigated. How can it happen? It should be explained by the government in the House,” Singh told reporters at an iftar hosted by Congress president Sonia Gandhi.
