Stroke care unit at new heal hub

Jamshedpur, July 26: The steel city will offer stroke care, micro neurosurgery and neuro-ICU under one roof from August, thanks to Bistupur’s Kantilal Gandhi Memorial Hospital (KGMH) that is managed by Medica Superspeciality Hospital of Calcutta.

The 150-bed heal hub, which opened doors on February 15 this year and boasts a fully-equipped lab, six state-of-the-art operating theatres and a 27-bed critical care unit, introduced microscopic neurosurgery and neuro-ICU facility last month. The stroke care facility will be functional by end of August.

N.K. Das, senior cardiologist and medical director of KGMH, said: “We have carried out 20 neuro-spinal surgeries and all of them have been successful. We have already placed orders for CT scan facilities and the same will be installed by next month. Once that happens, we will start treatment of brain stroke patients immediately. KGMH will be the only healthcare unit in Kolhan to have all these facilities under one roof.”
