Youth takes death plunge

A 23-year-old youth committed suicide by jumping off the roof of a commercial complex on Thursday morning.

Jeetendra Kumar was a resident of Imamganj in Gaya district and was living and working in Patna. Around 10.30am, Jeetendra went to the roof of the Buddha Plaza building at Buddha Marg and jumped to his death.

An officer of Kotwali police station said they had recovered a piece of paper from Jeetendra’s pocket with “I love you” written on it.

“We don’t know about the locality where he was staying. The piece of paper also has the name of a girl. It also has a mobile number stating that the police should make a call on it once he is dead. The police called up the number, which belongs to Ganesh Prasad, the father of the deceased. He has been informed about the incident. Strangely, the father said he had no idea about the place in Patna where his son was staying or his profession. We will get a clearer picture once his father, who is a teacher at a government high school, comes to Patna. Jeetendra was living in Patna for the past six months,” the officer said.

Sources said Jeetendra had visited the Buddha Plaza on Wednesday too. “It seems that he had decided to commit suicide and had come to check the place and find a way to reach the top floor. We have found a bag, which belongs to him, with many documents. An identity card with his picture has been recovered too. The identity card has got Kartanam Vinimay Private Limited written on it and has an address of Patna. The body has been sent for post-mortem,” the officer said.
