Koijam bags top title

Imphal, July 21: Koijam Shashikanta Singh claimed the senior category title of the first Junior, Senior and Master Imphal East District Body-Building Championship, 2014, organised by the Body-Builders Association at Kiyamgei in Imphal East today.

Shashikanta Singh, representing Pioneers Gym, Thambalkhong, beat two other competitors to the top slot.

Robert Meitei of Royal Gym, Ningomthong, bagged the second spot and Konsam Gostakumar of X-Fitness took the third spot.

In the junior category, Laishram Malemngamba of Super Gym, Khurai flexed his way to the championís title, overcoming six other body-builders in the competition.

K. Bebekanta of Royal Gym, Ningomthong, was in the second position while Ayekpam Jagdish of Eastern Iron Gym fetched the third spot.

N. Rakesh of Royal Gym, L. Meiraba Meitei of X-Fitness, W. Chittaranjan of Kangleipak Fitness Centre and GA Gibson Sharma of X-Fitness were in the fourth to seventh positions respectively.

In the masterís category, A. Premchand of Super Gym got the top title while Laishram Modhu of X-Fitness got the second spot.

N.K. Khelen Singh of Royal Gym had to be content with the third spot.

Selection trials

The AIFF has announced that the National Football Selection Trials for under-16 girls, who are born between January 1, 1999, and December 31, 2001, will be held from August 20-27.

The subsequent coaching camp will be held from August 28 to October 12 at SAI Centre, Manipur. Players should report with original passports, birth certificates and four passport-sized photographs for the trial.

Football: Social Welfare Club, Waikhong drubbed Advanced Volunteers Organisation, Kakching by 4-0 goals in the opening match of the 13th Super Division Football League Tournament 2014 at Kakching in Thoubal district today.

Priyo Singh scored two goals while Renghot and Inaoton fetched a goal each.
