London: Mohamed Salah will travel with Chelsea to their pre-season training camp in Austria on Monday.
Chelsea are aware of a report from Egypt claiming Salah may have to return to the country and complete military service, and have held private conversations with the player about it. But neither Chelsea nor Salah, who scored in the 3-2 friendly victory over AFC Wimbledon on Saturday, are believed to have received any official notification that he may have to go back to Egypt.
Chelsea have faced a similar situation in the past regarding Israeli Ben Sahar, when it was eventually agreed he would undertake his military service for two weeks at the end of the season.
A report in Egypt has claimed Salah’s future has been placed in doubt because the country’s educational programme that allows him to live in England has been rescinded. Should he be forced to return home, then it is feared Salah may not be allowed to leave Egypt again until completion of a period of military service.
