Dynamos go the Dutch way

New Delhi: Delhi Dynamos, the franchise unit in the capital for the Indian Super League (ISL), have decided to join hands with famous Dutch club Feyenoord Rotterdam for “overall development” of the team in the inaugural season.

Though the Delhi Dynamos officials said that names of the foreign players of the club would be announced later, sources said that former Danish internationals Mads Junker and Morten Skuobo are in talks with the Delhi club for playing in the ISL.

Junker, 33, is a striker and has represented Denmark seven times. He announced his retirement in 2012. He last played for Belgian side, KV Mechelen. Skoubo is also a striker and has played for Denmark six times.

Announcing the launch on Thursday, the franchise owner Sameer Manchanda, who is also the chairman and managing director of Den Networks, said the Netherlands club is expected to play a major role in selecting the coach and the marquee footballer for the Delhi team, which has decided to make the Nehru Stadium as their home ground.

Feyenoord are also famous for running a highly successful academy, which has produced players like Robin van Persie, Leroy Fer and Bruno Martins Indi.
