Upsets rule second round

Guwahati, July 16: Major upsets ruled the second round of the first International Open Fide Rating Chess Championship organised by the All-Assam Chess Association in association with Kamrup Rural District Chess Association at the Talimeran Ao Indoor Stadium on Cotton College premises here today.

Fourth seeded International Master S. Nitin went down to Rahul Gurung of Sikkim while unseeded Deepjyoti Bora got the better of seeded Rishideep Bordoloi.

International Master M.S. Tejkumar of Indian Railways, with teammates Himangshu Sharma and C. Pravin Kumar, along with International Master K. Dinesh Sharma of Life Insurance Corporation and Samir Kathmal of Maharashtra, top the tally with two points each.
