Tapas discharged

Calcutta, July 12: Trinamul MP Tapas Paul was discharged from Belle Vue Clinic this morning but the doctor who treated him has advised bed rest for a few days.

Tapas, whose “rape-and-shoot speech” kicked up a nationwide storm, had been admitted to the hospital at 8pm on Monday with complaints of high fever, high blood pressure and severe low back ache.

“He does not have fever now. His blood pressure is 130/90, which is almost normal. The back ache is there, but milder,” a hospital official said.

“He has been given muscle relaxants and analgesic drugs,” said Suddha Kalyan Paul, the doctor who attended to the Krishnagar MP.

Tapas is yet to attend Parliament’s budget session.
