Loew takes work to the beach
Santo Andre: Germany coach Joachim Loew can’t even take a stroll on the beach without thinking of Sunday’s final.
On Thursday, on the beach near the squad’s training base with scout Urs Siegenthaler, he suddenly bent down and started drawing lines in the sand. Siegenthaler spent a minute sketching out a diagram which Loew studied intently before it was washed away by a wave.
Sao Paulo: Mick Jagger was in attendance at the World Cup semi-final between Germany and Brazil and faced something of a social media backlash as he was labelled a “pe frio”, meaning a jinx, because of the shocking 1-7 result. In 2010, Jagger supported the USA, England and Brazil, who all lost.
Rome: Italy striker Mario Balotelli has stoked more controversy by publishing a picture of himself on Instagram, pointing a gun at the camera with the message “a big kiss to all the haters”. The AC Milan player quickly removed the photo but his latest gaffe will do him no favours in Italy.
