City Police shock Dynamo

Guwahati, July 10: A spirited City Police came back from behind to snatch a 2-1 victory against Dynamo Club in their match of the Premier Agro Bio-Tech 10th N.N. Bhattacharya Knock-Out Football Tournament at Nehru Stadium here today.

In a keen contest, City Police managed to clinch victory despite trailing by a goal.

On having received a well-measured pass from Manjit Rabha from inside the box, Daimalu Brahma made no mistake in finding the back of the net through a powerful strike in the 16th minute to give Dynamo Club an initial lead. On having received a free kick, Pranab Dasís set piece managed to find Rahul Boro whose fine strike drew parity in the 40th minute. Daurachand Marandi came close to further increasing the lead. However, his free kick from the edge of the box missed the crossbar by some margin in the 42nd minute.

With the teams switching sides, it was City Police which dominated the proceedings in the second half.

After receiving a pass from Manoj Ahmed in the midfield, Pranab Dasís strike managed to hit the crossbar denying them an all-important lead in the 51st minute.

In the 53rd minute, Rahul Boroís powerful attempt from the left flank missed the target by a whisker.

Rahul, making his way past the opposition defence line, decided to have a go at the target only to witness the ball rebound off the crossbar. But his second attempt found the net in the 75th minute to give his side the win.

India Club today defeated Town Club by 4-1 goals in the last match of the first leg of Ramanuj Gupta Trophy Super Division Football League of District Sports Association (DSA) Silchar at Satindra Mohan Dev Stadium, writes Satananda Bhattacharjee from Silchar.

India Clubís Malingir Halam scored a brace in the 6th and 36th minutes. Thanil Singh scored a goal in 27th minute while the last goal for the side was scored by Lalramrela. The only goal for Town Club was scored by Robert Thongjam through a penalty conversion. The penalty was awarded to Town Club due to India Clubís defender Gaidamei Rongmei handling the ball inside the box. The super four league starts on July 24. The DSA is yet to prepare the fixture list.
