NSUI raids hotels near station

Kokrajhar, July 4: Members of the Kokrajhar district committee of the National Studentsí Union of India (NSUI) today raided hotels near Fakiragram station selling alcohol illegally and destroyed liquor bottles.

According to sources,some hotels near the station have been selling alcohol without licences for a long time.

The sources added that alcohol is being sold without a licence and many illegal activities being carried out at London and Rupa hotels, which are located near the station, under the very nose of the police and administration.

Kaushik Das, a local NSUI leader, said many illegal activities, including sale of alcohol, have been going on in the area till late in the night, much to the concern of the local residents.

The student leader said though the residents had informed the police and railway authorities about the illegal activities, no measures have been taken to stop them.

The union demanded an immediate end to the all the anti-social activities in the area.

Body found: An unidentified body of a man, aged around 40 years , was recovered from the Gaurang river near Baburhat in Dhubri district on Thursday.

The body was brought to Dhubri for pos-tmortem.
