Rape arrest

Tura, June 20: Meghalaya police today arrested Ataur Rehman, 32, for allegedly raping his nine-year-old niece.

Rehman had allegedly raped the minor three days ago at New Bhaitbari, near Selsella in West Garo Hills, about 48km from Tura.

Police told this correspondent that the girl, who hails from a village near Mankachar in Dhubri district of Assam, was to accompany Rehman to a family wedding party in Dhubri town.
