Accused in Pakur SP killing held

Ranchi, June 20: A CPI(Maoist) area commander, prime accused in the attacks on a polling party this year and the Pakur SP in Dumka last year, was arrested from Bargu Pahar area of Pakur district last evening.

A rifle, a country-made pistol, live cartridges and two mobile phones were recovered from Daud Hembrom.

Police spokesperson CID IG Anurag Gupta said they were tipped off about Daudís presence in the area yesterday, following which a team was formed to nab him alive.

During interrogations, the rebel confessed to his involvement in the ambush on slain Pakur SP Amarjit Balihar and his team in July last year.

A native of Godda, Daud also admitted that he was part of the Maoist squad that attacked a polling party in Shikaripara of Dumka on April 24 this year, leading to the death of eight persons.
