Narengi triumph 2-0

Guwahati, June 19: Narengi Sports Club eased past Guwahati Young Star Football Club 2-0 in their match of the Guwahati Sports Association B Division Football League at Nehru Stadium here today.

With the referee whistling the kick-off, both sides made inroads but failed to yield results initially. Although Young Star made an attempt, they failed to find the back of the net.

Tarsish Sangma gave Narengi Sports Club the lead in the 14th minute with a fine strike while Johnson Rimya scored the second goal. With this win, Narengi Sports Club registered their second consecutive victory. Earlier, the Narengi boys thrashed Arambag Football Club 6-0.

In another match of the B Division Football League, Young Amateur Club got the better of Jewel Star Club 2-0. Kanishka Khaklary drew first blood in the 30th minute while Robinson Daimary doubled their lead in the 62nd minute.

Despite several attempts on target, Jewel Star players lacked the finishing touch. Earlier, Young Amateur Club beat Favourite Club 4-1 in their opening match, while Jewel Star Club were defeated by Sporting Union Club 1-2.

In the Guwahati Sports Association C Division Football League at the same venue, Rudreswar Ajanta Club registered a 2-1 victory over Panbazar Boys Club.

In a keen contest, Jyotishman Das provided Rudreswar Ajanta Club with the lead in 30th minute while Ranjan Basumatary drew parity for the Panbazar side in the 43rd minute of play.

Atul Marak scored the winning goal.

Earlier, Rudreswar Ajanta Club faced a 0-2 defeat in the hands of Mahabahu Sangha in their first match while Panbazar Boys Club got the better of Ankurjyoti Club 2-0 in their first match.

Silchar soccer: Public Health Engineering (PHE) RC today defeated India Club 3-1 in a match of the Ramanuj Gupta Trophy District Sports Association, Silchar Super Division Football League in Silchar.
