Sydney: Sri Lankan spin great Muttiah Muralidharan, who had faced a lot of criticism in Australia during his playing days, has ironically been chosen to join the Australian coaching team.
Muralidharan will be with the Australian team for the series against Pakistan, in the UAE.
During his playing career, Muralidharan was heavily criticised by Australians after being no-balled by umpire Darrell Hair for suspect action.
The world’s leading Test wicket-taker is already working with Australia’s top spinner Nathan Lyon as part of Australia’s National Cricket Centre Spin Programme, and has agreed to become more involved. (AFP)
