Calcutta, June 17: Bharti Airtel has rolled out its 4G services on mobile in the city.
In 2012, chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal had unveiled the fourth-generation services here that could be accessed through dongles. However, this did not permit customers to talk or text.
In a statement issued today, the company said its prepaid customers could avail themselves of 4G on mobile by selecting a suitable 4G pack. The users need to upgrade to a 4G SIM.
Data browsing can be done on the 4G network, while voice calls will be routed on 2G by using the circuit switched fallback technology.
Customers using Apple iPhone 5S or 5C can upgrade to a 4G SIM. The services can also be enjoyed on Xolo LT 900 and LG G2.
