Calcutta/Dhaka: The reserves got most things right in Sunday’s lung-opener, something that should please the team management.
With two more games remaining in this short tour, an upbeat India look to keep the momentum going and seal the series with a win in the Tuesday’s second ODI at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, in Dhaka.
No wonder Suresh Raina’s men are eyeing an unassailable 2-0 lead against Bangladesh, something that would certainly boost their morale and confidence before the tour of England. Like it happened during the first ODI, chances of a downpour are there on Tuesday as well.
However, the only aspect that they may have to deal with is complacency, which tends to play a part especially during such circumstances.
The most assuring aspect of India's victory on Sunday has been the form of openers Robin Uthappa and Ajinkya Rahane. Their styles were contrasting, but controlled aggression was the hallmark of both batsmen’s innings.
As for Uthappa, there seems to be a transformation in his batting, as he appears to be doing absolutely no wrong with the long handle. Importantly, he’s making use of most opportunities, which could just lead to a great future.
There is a possibility that Mohit might be rested and Ranganath Vinay Kumar gets to open the bowling with Umesh Yadav.
