Amal Alamuddin and George Clooney: Discreet location
June 10: George Clooney will marry Amal Alamuddin, his British fiancee, in Venice in September, it has been reported.
The 53-year-old Hollywood star had considered holding the ceremony at his villa on the shores of Lake Como but decided that the property was too well-known and would not afford enough privacy.
Instead he is considering a more discreet location in the lagoon city, which he has visited on several occasions in the past. He has been photographed at the wheel of sleek motor launches, most recently during last year’s Venice Film Festival when he turned up to present Gravity, the film in which he co-starred with Sandra Bullock.
Clooney and Alamuddin were spotted together in Venice last month and are believed to have been scouting possible wedding locations.
The actor and director was spotted having dinner with Amal, 36, a prominent human rights lawyer based in London, at a restaurant in Venice.
They toasted each other with glasses of Prosecco and then ate crayfish risotto followed by grilled sea bass.
“George and Amal want to be married in Italy, but they need a location that offers them and their guests privacy,” an unnamed source told the US website Page Six.
The wedding will reportedly take place on September 12, with Hollywood stars including Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and Matt Damon on the guest list.
Last month a thief stole a bottle of wine from the grounds of Clooney’s villa on the banks of Lake Como, but was arrested before he could break into the property itself.
The alleged burglar, a 29-year-old Romanian man, was arrested and taken to a police station in the nearby town of Como to be charged with theft.
