Eureka High pip Angels

Imphal, June 9: Eureka High School, Khongjom, got the better of Little Angels Paradise School, Wangbal, by 4-3 goals during penalty shootout to qualify for the state-level under-17 boys’ Subroto Mukherjee Football Tournament, 2014 played at Thoubal.

The final match of the qualifying round of the Thoubal district-level competition between Eureka High School and Little Angels was goalless in regulation time resulting in a penalty shootout.

In the shootout, L. Raju, N. Sushilkumar, N. Arbind and N. Santosh scored for Eureka team while Little Angels could net only three goals through Poikanta, Odit Singh and Rahul Singh, for the exit.

In the under-14 boys’ event, Lilong Higher Secondary Madrasa edged past PR English School by 4-3 goals during tie-breaker after both teams were locked 1-1 during regulation time.

K. Dingku, L. Robinson and Th. Rakesh scored for Lilong while PR English School managed only two goals — by Akash Singh and Irfan Shah.

In the under-17 girls’ category, Victory High School, Kakching, defeated L.M. Higher Secondary School, Athokpam, 5-0 to qualify for the state- level competition. L. Rebiya struck two goals while Gitarani Devi, L. Rigma and H. Daya fetched a goal each for the victory.

Fifa guide: A book, 2014 Fifa World Cup, complied by AIFF referee instructor Jadavchandra Haobam will be formally released tomorrow at All-Manipur Football Association complex at Mapal Kangjeibung.
