Calcutta: Wicket-keeper batsman Mohammed Mithun Ali and pacer Taskin Ahmed, who are yet to debut in ODIs, were named in Bangladesh’s 15-member squad for the one-day series against India.
Mushfiqur Rahim will lead the side in the three-ODI series, starting in Dhaka on June 15.
Mithun, 24, made his Twenty20 debut against Sri Lanka at Chittagong in February, but was not selected for the subsequent Asia Cup and the World T20.
Taskin, 19, is one of the quickest bowlers and made his T20 debut against Australia in the World Cup. However, there was no place for medium-pacer Rubel Hossian in the squad as the selectors picked all-rounder Ziaur Rahman.
Imrul Kayes, Arafat Sunny, Naeem Islam and Shafiul Islam, who were part of the Asia Cup squad, have also been excluded. Tamim Iqbal, on the other hand, returned to the squad after missing the five-nation tournament due to a neck injury.
Faruque Ahmed, chairman of selection panel, said: “We have kept more or less a settled squad… Mithun has been under our radar for a while. Taskin is an exciting prospect.”
