Guwahati, June 4: The Guwahati-based Royal Group of Institutions (RGI), a leading private educational institution in the state, has come forward with a scholarship scheme for rank holders in Classes X and XII examinations under the Assam state boards.
An RGI official said the scheme would be launched on Saturday. Assam governor J.B. Patnaik will attend as the chief guest.
Altogether 22 students were in the top 10 positions in Class XII examinations and 25 students in top 10 positions in Class X examinations. The results were declared recently.
Angira Miami, officer deputed for special duty at the institute, told reporters that 100 per cent scholarship, including hostel facilities, will be given to all the rank holders of Class XII in science and commerce stream for admission in any of the four courses at undergraduate level — bachelor of engineering, bachelor of architecture, bachelor of commerce and bachelor of business administration.
“We will provide 100 per cent scholarship, including hostel facilities, to Class X rank holders who want to pursue higher secondary classes in any of the three streams (science, commerce and arts) in our institute which is affiliated to the CBSE council,” Miami said.
If a rank holder belongs to the below poverty line category, the institute will offer him/her financial assistance even if he wants to study in another institution, Miami added.
“We have invited all rank holders to our institute where we will felicitate them on Saturday. Most of the rank holders have confirmed their participation. We will also felicitate their parents and heads of the institutions because of their contributions. Each topper will be presented with a Samsung Tablet as a token of appreciation,” another official of the institute said.
