SAIL profit

Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has earned Rs 2,616 crore as profit after tax (PAT) in 2013-14, registering more than 20 per cent growth over the last financial year’s PAT of Rs 2,170 crore. The steel giant’s gross turnover during the 2013-14 fiscal was Rs 51,866 and net worth was Rs 42,666 crore, higher than previous financial year's figures, which were Rs 49,350 crore and Rs 41,025 crore, respectively, said a release issued by Research & Development Centre for Iron and Steel (RDCIS), a SAIL subsidiary based in Ranchi. Production of saleable steel and sale, at 12.9 million tonnes and 12.07 million tonnes, respectively, were also higher

ASUS, makers of the world’s best-selling motherboards, launched their first store in Jamshedpur on May 23. The outlet Dot Net, at Bistupur’s Yash Kamal Complex, features a variety of touch notebooks, ultrabooks, tablets, phablets and notebooks, and is Jharkhand’s third exclusive store. Optimising oil

M. Sampath Kumar, chief executive officer of Tata Motors subsidiary TML Drivelines, on May 26 inaugurated the company’s total fluid management system in Jamshedpur, a service given jointly by VAS Tribology Solutions Pvt Ltd and Indian OilCorporation Ltd. With this, TML Drivelines will cut down its lubricant and coolant consumption and improve machine quality and reliability

Glitter address

PC Jeweller opened its first store in eastern India on Ranchi’s Main Road. The 3,300sqft treasure trove, which debuted on May 25, is offering gold, diamond, stone, polki and kundan jewellery collections. Femina Miss India 2014 winner Koyal Rana and runners-up Jhataleka Malhotra and Gail Nicole Da Silva were special invitees for the occasion. “Set up in March 2005 in New Delhi, the Ranchi store is the 42nd branch of PC Jeweller. We now have branches in 34 cities across the country,” said chief executive officer R.K. Sharma
