Srimanta and Ulubari win

Guwahati, May 29: Ulubari Higher Secondary School and Shrimanta Shankar Academy clinched victories in the 10th Dhan Sena Sinha All-Assam Inter-School Prize-Money Cricket Tournament at Latasil playground here today.

In the first match of the day, Ulubari Higher Secondary School drubbed CK Academy by 74 runs in a match curtailed to 15 overs a side because of a wet outfield.

Ulubari put up 133 for the loss of six wickets in 15 overs. Jintu Kalita topscored with 50 off 30 balls. Zahid Md al Zabir picked up three wickets.

In reply, the CK Academy boys could only manage 59 runs before being bundled out in 9.5 overs. Zahid scored 21 runs off eight deliveries while Amit Sarma contributed 13 runs off eight balls. Jintu and Monu Sarma picked up three wickets each for their side.

In the other match of the day, Shankar Academy got the better of Capital Public School by 20 runs to seal a berth in the quarter-finals. Put in to bat, Shankar Academy put up 125 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Verzeel Sarma scored 39 runs off 38 balls.

Situtpal Sarania and Bajanta Bora bagged three wickets each.

Capital Public School, in reply, were bundled out for 105 in 16.5 overs. Sanjib Bey scored 37 runs off 24 deliveries while Salauddin Khan contributed 16 off 23 balls.

Samim Akhtar Hazarika was the pick of the bowlers with four wickets for 19 runs in four overs.

U-14 cricket: Lakhimpur Cricket Academy and Northeast Frontier Railway Sports Association Cricket Academy registered victories in their matches of the Dilip Sarmah under-14 inter-district cricket coaching centre championship here today.
