Soniya packs a punch in semis

Imphal, May 29: Soniya Bomjan of Mary Kom Regional Boxing Foundation powered her way to the final of the third sub-junior girls of the State-Level Boxing Championship 2014 at the boxing ring, Khuman Lampak sports complex, today, defeating S. Wanglenthoibi of Bishnupur.

T. Grace of Thoubal also entered the final, defeating L. Ninika Devi of Imphal East.

L. Bijeta, K. Bidyalaxmi, N. Babyrojisana, L. Christina, L. Manshi, H. Sanathoi, O. Pinky, M. Puja, Th. Seema, N. Bidyapati, H. Karnika, Kh. Nanao, Th. Mona, Kh. Bidya, K. Ranjita, Dibeesiya Soibam, S. Rebika, Kh. Monika, S. Netapiyari and T. Premi also entered the final in their respective categories. In the menís sub-junior categories, Md Etaskhan, T. Robertson, O. Brandon, L. Tomba, H. Nongthon Meitei, E. Piter, S. Binotchandra, L. Ronaldson and B. Kuknalem entered the final.

Challenge Cup: Football Lovers Association of Manipur rode into the semi-final, defeating TBSFA Tabungkhok by 3-1 goals in the 16th Challenge Cup Veteran Football Tournament at Mapal Kangjeibung today.

In the other quarter-finals, FC Imphal beat Veteran Sports Association, Imphal, by 7-6 goals after both teams were locked at 1-1 goal each during regulation hours.

Sadar Hills blanked Tiddim Road Veteran Sports Association by 2-0 goals. Songkhosat scored both the goals in the second half.
