Uthappa is likely to make a comeback

Calcutta: Robin Uthappa is all set for a comeback to the Indian squad for the three-match ODI series in Bangladesh when the selectors meet in Mumbai on Wednesday, to pick the squad .

The squad for the five-match Test series versus England will also be named on Wednesday.

Regular captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and deputy Virat Kohli may be rested ahead of the tour of England and Rohit Sharma is tipped to lead the side .

Uthappa has been in superb form in the domestic circuit and is the leading run-scorer in IPL VII with 613 runs in 14 matches.

Promising Sanju Samson, along with Bengal’s Wriddhiman Saha, will be vying for the wicketkeeper’s slot. Karn Sharma, Yuzvendra Chahal and Piyush Chawla’s names may also be discussed. Young KXIP pacer Sandeep Sharma may also get a look-in.

Kolkata Knight Riders captain Gautam Gambhir has a good chance of making it to the England-bound Test squad as the third opener. Murali Vijay, Shikhar Dhawan, Cheteshwar Pujara, Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, Rohit Sharma, Mahendra Singh Dhoni are confirmed for the England tour.

Uthappa, along with KL Rahul and Karun Nair, might also be considered for the Test squad.

Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Amit Mishra are also England bound.

Among the pacers, Zaheer Khan is certain to be left out while Mohammed Shami, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohit Sharma and Ishwar Pandey look to be certainties. Umesh Yadav and Varun Aaron are the dark horses.
