New Delhi: Two-time Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar would return to the international arena after two years, when the Indian team take part in the Sassri international tournament in Italy later this month. Sushil, however, would take the mat in the 70 kg category under the new rule.
After winning the 66 kg freestyle silver medal in the London Olympics in 2012, Sushil did not participate in any international tournament. He was a part of the national camp and preparatory tours for the World Championships, World Cup and Asian Championships. But his place was finally taken by youngsters.
Yogeshwar Dutt, too, will be making his first appearance in two years. He won a bronze medal in the London Olympics.
The 60 kg wrestler has now shifted to the 65 kg category. Yogeshwar was nursing an injury for a long time after the London Games.
“Both the wrestlers have practised well and are fit for international meets,” said one of the coaches. “But the Italy meet would be their first in the new weight categories. So, it is going to be a big test for them,” he added.
