Guwahati, May 27: Don Bosco School, Sonaighuli, and Sonapur Chamata Higher Secondary School registered convincing wins in their matches of the 10th Dhan Sena Sinha All-Assam Inter-School Prize-money Cricket Tournament at Latasil ground here today.
The Bosconians thrashed Pasaria KK High School by 103 runs in the first match of the day. Put in to bat, the Don Bosco boys posted 160 for five wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.
Manjit Taro scored 48 while Deepak Kr Yadav chipped in with 42 runs. Arjun Das and Champak Kalita picked up two wickets each for their side. In reply, Pasaria batsmen were bundled out for 57 in 12.3 overs. Abdul Salam (19) was the lone notable contributor. Deepak Kr Yadav was the pick of the bowlers with five wickets while Jitendra Singha and Manjit Taro scalped two wickets each.
In the other match, Sonapur Chamata Higher Secondary School registered an eight wicket victory over Rose Bud English High School to book a place in the quarter-finals. Put in to bat, Rose Bud batsmen managed 61 all out in 12.4 overs. Rahul Mandal (20) was the only notable scorer, while Bitupan Das was the pick of the bowlers claiming four wickets and Taufail Ahmed scalped three wickets.
Sonapur boys eased past the target losing two wickets in 8.2 overs. Rajesh Thakuria remained unbeaten on 33 runs while Anowar Hussain scored 12 runs. Anish Alam and Viki Ali picked up a wicket each.
Kendriya Vidyalaya, IIT, will play Bright Future English High School in the first match of the day tomorrow while LOG Hindi High School will face Ganeshnagar High School in the other match.
