Guwahati, May 25: St Loknath Academy and Guru Nanak High School clinched victories in their respective matches of the 10th Dhan Sena Sinha All Assam Inter School Prize Money Cricket Tournament at Latasil playground here today.
St Loknath Academy got the better of St Paul English High School in the first match of the day. Electing to bat, St Paul batsmen put up a total of 110 runs before being all out in 16.4 overs. Akash Nayak scored 23 runs off 29 balls. Aftab Khan was the wrecker-in-chief with five wickets in his kitty for 15 runs in three overs while Raja Debnath bagged two wickets conceding 15 runs.
In reply, St Loknath boys got past the target losing six wickets in 17.5 overs. Aftab Khan scored 15 runs while Raja Debnath remained not out on 12 runs. Pradip Kumar and Rajesh Rai picked up two wickets each.
In the other match of the day, Guru Nanak High School registered a convincing 41-run victory over Natun Fatasil Town High School. Electing to bat, Guru Nanak batsmen put up a modest total of 133 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their stipulated 20 overs. Sahil Jain topscored for his side with a fine knock of 56 runs off 59 deliveries while Neelkamal Kashyap and Moses Mochahari chipped in with 13 runs each. Jitu Basfor, Biki Basfor and Bipul Das picked up one wicket each.
In reply, Natun Fatasil boys could only manage 92 runs before being all out in 15.4 overs. Sanjay Basfor scored 28 runs off 31 deliveries while Rudra Deka with 16 runs off 13 balls was the only other batsman to reach the double figure mark.
U-14 cricket: Biswanath Cricket Coaching Centre (CCC) and Dibrugarh CCC posted victories in their respective matches of the Dilip Sarmah Trophy inter-district cricket coaching centre/academy under-14 cricket tournament here today.
