Calcutta: Amidst the ruins of Delhi DareDevils’ abysmal IPL season, stands JP Duminy — solid and dependable, aggressive and attacking, with 357 runs from 12 matches. He has scored the bulk of DD’s runs, often coming down the order.
After DD lost yet another game – this time at the hands of KXIP in Delhi – Duminy analysed his team’s woes and he even discussed his own new role, that of a finisher.
Duminy said it was difficult to pinpoint on one reason why the season went haywire.
“We have some very good players, but we haven’t fired as a group. Our batting and bowling hasn’t quite clicked simultaneously in a game, which has resulted in our downfall,” Duminy said.
Though pleased with his personal performance, Duminy is unhappy that it isn’t helping his team.
Meanwhile, to make matter worse, DareDevils captain Kevin Pietersen was slapped with a fine of Rs. 12 lakh for maintaining slow over rate against Kings XI Punjab, in a game where they went down by four wickets, on Monday.
