Good show by archers

New Delhi: Indian recurve archers bagged two medals a silver and a bronze in the second World Cup, held at Medellin, on Monday. While India’s recurve ‘B’ team lost to Korea in the shoot-off to return with a silver medal, the mixed team of Atanu Das and Bombayla Devi Laishram won a bronze by beating a Mexican combination.

Calcutta: Fifa president Sepp Blatter has congratulated I-League champions Bengaluru FC on “winning the I-League championship in their debut season”. In a letter to AIFF, Blatter conveyed his “warmest wishes” to all of the players, the manager, the technical and medical staff and the team’s supporters.

Madrid: Lionel Messi signed a new contract with Barcelona on Monday that will reportedly make the four-times World Player of the Year soccer’s best-paid player with a net annual salary of $27.4 million. “I am happy to continue at my home like I have always said,” Messi said on his Twitter account.
