Guwahati, May 19: Rose Bud English High School and Don Bosco School, Sonaighuli, registered convincing victories in their respective matches of the 10th Dhan Sena Sinha All Assam Inter-School Prize Money Cricket Tournament at the Latasil playground here today.
Rose Bud English High School eased past Maharishi Vidya Mandir, Kalipur, by 65 runs in the first match of the day. Electing to bat, Rose Bud put up a modest total of 119 runs before being all out in 18.2 overs. Vicki Ali topscored for his side with 41 runs off 44 balls which featured five hits to the fence and one over the ropes while Sadakat Ali and Anish Alam chipped in with 11 runs each. Sumit Chakravorty and Rohit Das bagged three wickets each while Paramjit Paul picked up one wicket.
In reply, Maharshi batsmen could only manage 54 runs before being all out in 11.2 overs. None of the batsmen managed to reach the double-figure mark. Anish Alam returned with figures of three for five runs in three overs while Vicki Ali bagged two wickets going for 14 runs in his 2.2 overs.
The second match of the day witnessed Don Bosco School, Sonaighuli, inflicting a 47-run defeat on Pragjyotish English High School. Opting to bat, Don Bosco boys put up a competitive total of 136 runs before being bundled out in 19.3 overs. Biswajit Jena remained unbeaten with 21 runs off 23 balls while Aveek Chaudhury chipped in with 19 runs off 32 deliveries. Jitendra Singha with 17 runs off eight balls was the other notable contributor for his side. Sohail Ahmed was the pick of the bowlers with four wickets in his kitty for seven runs in his quota of overs while Keshab Basfor bagged three wickets conceding 18 runs in his allotted overs. Sanjib Rajat bagged two wickets going for 36 runs in his quota of overs.
Chasing the target, Pragjyotish boys managed 89 runs before being all out in 15 overs. Sanjib Rajat scored 27 runs off 34 balls while Sohail Ahmed contributed 12 runs off 25 deliveries. Aveek Chaudhury and Deepak Yadav picked up three wickets each while Manjeet Taro took two wickets giving away 12 runs in his three overs.
Oakland High School will play Little Angels English High School in the first match of the day while LOG Hindi High School will face Milky Way Public School in the other match of the day.
