Gyan and South Point triumph

Guwahati, May 19: Gyan Educational Institution and South Point School today registered wins in two matches of the Krishna Chhetri under-14 and under-15 Inter-school Cricket Tournament, organised by Fairyland High School, at Janata Bhawan ground here.

In the morning match, Gyan Educational handed a four-wicket defeat to Gyanjyoti Vidyalaya while in the afternoon, South Point clinched a six-wicket win against Sudarshan Public School.

Gyanjyoti Vidyalaya, put in to bat, were bundled out for 77 in 17 overs and the Gyan Educational boys reached 83 for six in 14 overs. In the other match, put in to bat, Sudarshan boys were restricted to 93 for six in the stipulated 20 overs and the South Point batsmen reached 85 for four.

Brief scores: Gyanjyoti Vidyalaya 77 (Rupjyoti Kalita 30, Yashin Hazarika 19, Rahul Sharma 4/5), Gyan Educational Institution 83/6 (Jeevan Kr Jha 43, Rahul Sharma 11, Rupjyoti Kalita 3/31); Sudarshan Public School 93/6 (Gunajit Mahanta 19, Abhijot Singh 19, Sarangajyoti Deka 2/17), South Point 85/4 (Joydeep Singh 38, Aniket Talukdar 16, Gunajit Mahanta 2/25).
