Children & moms to cook up culinary delights

- Boat ride in Ganga, visits to factory and healing centre, quiz, skit, rain dance at summer camp

From boat riding in the Ganga to factory visits, children would experience all in a summer camp.

EDUscope, an association that promotes development of children, would organise the camp from May 21 to May 28.

Apart from having activities and surprises for the children, the summer camp would also provide an opportunity for the adults, too.

On the first day, a cooking competition would be organised for the children and their mothers. Other women can also take part in the contest.

While the children would be preparing food without fire, the mothers and other women would bring food from homes. They would be experimenting with their culinary skills and prepare Chinese cuisine.

The hospitality partner for the competition is hotel The Panache. The competition would be conducted in the hotel itself.

The top three winners of the contest would each receive a voucher and a coupon of a coffee shop.

The executive chef of the hotel, Soumya Mukherjee, and his team would also present a live cookery show.

The women, who have not enrolled their wards in the camp but are willing to take part in it, would have to shell out Rs 300 each.

The children would be charged Rs 2,000 to Rs 5,000 for the camp. They would be divided into two groups — from five to 10 years and between 11 and 16 years.

In the weeklong summer camp, the children would be taken to places like Water Park, Golghar (to enjoy the laser show) and Tarumitra to learn the importance of nature and how to save the environment.

A science show and rain dance would also be in the itinerary.

The children would also be taken to a healing centre near Tarumitra.

The director of EDUscope, Sunita Sharaf, said: “It is found that the children lack concentration these days. They would be taken to the healing centre to learn the art of concentration.”

For the factory visit, the children would be taken to Sudha Dairy.

Tamtam ki sawari, quiz, skit, mono acting, English lab for public speaking advertising communication skills, tattoo making would be other attractions at the camp.

EDUscope would be organising the camp for the 12th year.
