Misra: Will try to do my best

IPS touch

New Delhi: BB Misra, a senior IPS officer who will head the police investigation wing attached to the Justice Mukul Mudgal panel, said he will try his best to fulfil expectations.

Misra said the new assignment given to him by the apex court was “very prestigious”.

“I am very thankful to the Supreme Court and Justice Mudgal for reposing their faith in me. I will try to do my best,” Misra said.

Misra had earlier handled some of the most high-profile CBI cases like the fodder scam and Nandigram firing in Bengal.

He was appointed by a Supreme Court bench comprisingJustices A K Patnaik and Ibrahim Kalifulla. A 1983-batch Assam-Meghalaya cadre officer, he is currently posted as deputy director general (operations) of the Narcotics Control Bureau in New Delhi.

The choice of Misra, as head of the police investigating team, over the Justice Mudgal panel’s request for former CBI special director ML Sharma came about due to “objections made on behalf of BCCI and N. Srinivasan”.
