KV boys and Rose Bud bloom in Latasil

Guwahati, May 15: Rose Bud English High School and Kendriya Vidyalaya Maligaon clinched victories in their respective matches of the 10th Dhan Sena Sinha All-Assam Inter-School Prize-Money Cricket Tournament at Latasil playground here today.

Rose Bud English High School eased past Kendriya Vidyalaya Noonmati by 39 runs in the first match of the day. Electing to bat, Rose Bud boys put up a competitive total of 153 runs before being all out in 19.2 overs. Rahul Mandal topscored with 41 runs off 27 deliveries including six hits to the fence and one over the ropes while Sadiqut Ali chipping in with 34 runs off 25 balls which featured four boundaries and a six. Dhiraj Kr Goswami was the pick of the bowlers with four wickets for 19 runs in his allotted four overs while Amar Sahani and Abhinash Bharali bagged two wickets each.

In reply, Kendriya Vidyalaya batsmen managed 114 runs before being bundled out in 19 overs. Biswajit Dhekial scored 22 runs off 14 balls while Sagar Rai contributed 21 runs off 24 deliveries. Akash Dubey returned with figures of four for 25 runs in his quota of overs while Anish Alam and Vicky Ali bagged two wickets each.

In the second match of the day, Kendriya Vidyalaya inflicted a five-wicket defeat on Don Bosco School, Sonaighuli. Put in to bat, the Don Bosco batsmen failed in the middle as the side could only manage 68 runs before being all out in 14.3 overs. Bishal Goswami was the only notable contributor with 22 runs off 19 balls. Dhiraj Choudhury was the pick of the bowlers with four wickets to his kitty for 16 runs in his quota of overs while Ripon Paul scalped two wickets going for six runs in his two overs. In reply, Kendriya Vidyalaya ensured their target losing five wickets in 8.4 overs. Dhiraj Choudhury scored 14 runs off 15 balls while Subham Dey contributed 11 runs off 13 deliveries. Manjit Taro and Ronald Kathar picked up two wickets each while Rohit Sharma took one wicket.

Bright Future English School will play Little Angels English High Schoolin the first match of the day while Ganesh Nagar High School will face Milky Way Public School in the other match of the day.
