Mada to collect all tax dues

The revenue board of the cash-strapped Mada on Thursday decided to realise water bills worth Rs 3 crore pending with BCCL by May 25, besides expediting the process to collect revenues from different defaulters to ensure timely payment of salaries to its employees.

During a meeting chaired by Mada managing director Ravindra Singh, the board also decided to streamline and regularise tax collections to avoid any backlogs.

Senior officials, including Mada secretary Birendra Singh, accounts officer A.K. Karn, technical committee member Vinod Kumar among others, were present during the meeting.

According to officials, BCCL owes Rs 3 crore to the Mada for supplying drinking water to different residential areas under the PSU.

Tax worth Rs 50 lakh is pending in Area-IV, Rs 2 lakh in Area-V and Rs 1.11 crore in Area-VII. These apart, the coal major also owes to the civic body Rs 70 lakh for Area-V and Rs 68 lakh for Area-VI.

The Mada officials now want to recover this entire amount within May 25.
