Calcutta: For 23-year-old Ankit Sharma, Tuesday night should have been a dream. But his quick fire 30 as an opener and then capturing two wickets did not feel really that sweet as Rajasthan Royals lost a close match against Chennai Super Kings in Ranchi.
But Ankit has made a mark for himself and is one of the uncapped player to come out of the RR stables and perform on the big stage.
Ankit said he was told by Shane Watson on Monday evening that he would be playing the match against CSK. The left-hander told the IPL website: “Rahul Sir (Dravid), Monty Sir (Desai) and Zubin Sir (Bharucha) had told me that they were planning something like this; so it was a good outing for me.”
“I was prepared because the coaches had already spoken to me about what line and length to bowl. We also watch a lot of videos, so you get a good idea of what needs to be done.”
