Calcutta: East Bengal is all set to decide on the fate of coach Armando Colaco on Tuesday. East Bengal officials had an informal meeting at the club tent on Monday and it was decided they cannot afford to wait for long for Colaco. “We have told him to say ‘yes’ or ‘no’ by Tuesday, so that we can go ahead with the team building process,” a senior club official said on Monday.
The official revealed that the club has agreed to almost most of his demands. “So the ball is in Armando’s court right now. He is more or less okay with everything. But he has to tell us that. We cannot announce his name unless and until we get the green signal from him.”
East Bengal officials also discussed the financial aspect of the next season. If the All India Football Fdederation (AIFF) executive committee ratifies the I-League committee’s proposal of teams having one marquee player, then it is set to burn a hole in the club’s pocket.
“We had a talk on that issue. And we would wait till Wednesday — the day the executive committee meets — to decide on how to go about it.”
