Watson: Faulkner incredible

Rajasthan Royals pulled off a stunning win over Royal Challengers Bangalore on Sunday. The win pleased Rajasthan Royals captain Shane Watson and he was all praise for James Faulkner.

Excerpts

Shane Watson: We have always got the belief that we can chase down any total, especially with the batting line-up we have got.

RCB batsmen showed the pitch was good to bat on… In the last few overs of their innings, they slammed our bowlers all around the park. So we always knew we could overhaul the target. We were ahead of RCB’s run rate at every stage, and we knew we would have to pull something like their last five overs. It was some excellent hitting from Smith and Faulkner. Both were incredible in the end.

Faulkner was raring to go up the order and today he got the opportunity and grabbed it.

Virat Kohli: We were just not able to hit the yorkers in the end. The bowlers tried their best… But it was just not our day.

They needed 65 from four overs… It was a tough ask and in these situations, you only get over the finish line once out of 10 times. I am really happy for Yuvraj (Singh). He batted marvellously…

James Faulkner: AB de Villiers and Yuvraj was batting pretty well. And I thought AB was going to hit me for six sixes.

But then, I conceded 42 and I was pretty happy with my effort. It was a very tough chase. We needed to get off to a good start and our openers Ajinkya Rahane and Karun Nair did batted freely.
