Aberdeen: Ian Bell scored a 34-ball 50 as England beat Scotland by 39 runs (D/L Method) in a rain-curtailed ODI, here, at the Mannofield Park, on Friday.
Put in to bat, openers Bell and captain Alastair Cook put on 83 as England finished at 167 for six after the match was reduced to a 20-overs-a-side affair. Apart from Bell and Cook, Eoin Morgan scored 31 and Joe Root hit 17 off just six balls. In reply, Scotland could not go beyond 133, losing nine wickets. Michael Leask top-scored with 42 for the Scots.
Captain Cook admitted he would have chosen to bowl first had he won the toss in damp conditions and on a pitch that has been under cover for a couple of days.
